Friday night healthy pizza!

There were no cheap and yummy pizzas at our local supermarket. So I made my own using pita bread bases spread with a good quality BBQ sauce!

For the toppings I used grated Edam cheese and half a round of chopped Brie, cooked chicken jurk, chopped block salami and mushrooms.

Bake in a hot oven for 10-15 minutes - YUM ;)

Blokes have their uses!!

Instead of let there be light - we needed a new curtain rail to block out light. Thanks Pete - the nagging finally worked!!

Automatically adding a custom signature to each posting.

I have been trying to add a custom signature post with no luck. Well, hey presto this morning it worked!!
  • I scanned-in my own logo using an italic pen and a small piece of red lace.
  • On the top right of the scanning page you can crop the picture to reduce the white background.
  • Once saved I forwarded the image to Paint to remove any blemishes then forwarded the saved image as a jpg to My Pictures/Picasa - then sent to my Blog automatically.
  • A huge amount of code appeared in the message of my post (if not, push Edit Html - top right on your post) which I right clicked to copy then pasted (as a trial) into the Post Template section - which is located via the Dashboard, from where you click Settings and then Formatting.
  • Remember to save this final step. It is also a good idea to do a couple of test Blogs to see if this works. No guarantees - this appears complicated but it worked for me!
  • Also remember to switch your post back to compose otherwise you will always have that heap of code on your post and could easily delete it :)
P.S. After all this effort, the signature has gone from this post - but I have got it working again in later posts , so there are some issues. Does anyone know why?

Thanks to Linda at: http://diaryofacraftaholic.blogspot.com for the tips on creating a custom signature :)

Cool lunch box ideas

I am always looking for teaching ideas, especially if they are useful to me as well :). This lunch bag was purchased from a market in Sydney. I love the retro 50's look, plus the colours are stunning!
I believe this bag could be easily made using table protector cloth - retails $16.99 NZ at Spotlight.

Family fun with Aunty Lizzie - circa 1994

The girls just loved (and still do) Aunty Lizzie. The Plod stories, trips to Moana Pool (to give mum a break) and speaking that "scrubby" foreign language i.e. French!!! With Emily turning 21, it is hard to believe where the time has gone. Isn't the internet wonderful to keep in contact with family and friends overseas? We send our love to family in Scotland and often reflect on all the good times when we were together...

Nana Randall scanned and copied into Picasa

This photo is very special even though it is quite tatty. Nana would have been about 24, about the same age as Julia. There are strong family resemblances that link back to our Czech ancestry.

Geotagging Pilsen photos in Picasa

Posted by Picasa
Geotagging is a great way to identify photos with a map of where they were taken:
  • Select the photos in Picasa you want to geotag.
  • Click the Places button in the lower right hand corner.
  • Click the green marker button - bottom left corner, to add a new place for selected photos.
  • Move the green marker on the photo to the spot where the photo was taken.
  • Click OK button to finalize the geotag placement.
  • Search for the location e.g. Pilsen was enough information for above photos.

Clip Art via Picasa direct to Blog

This Clip Art picture has been cropped to remove the excess white around the picture via Picasa then you can export directly to your Blog on the Picasa site.
The Blog below is an example of what your exported file looks like if it hasn't been cropped in Picasa.

Open Office to PDF and exported as a jpg

This is AMAZING for me - because I have been trying to find a way to export to my blog - items that I have saved, that are not original jpgs.

Testing an email

Just checking whether we can email my Blog.

Yeha this email worked direct to my Blog - filed as requested in the draft section - I added an attachment - but not being a jpg, that part didn't work!

Visiting schools in Christchurch

Most teachers (long may it continue) are always willing to share ideas... My day in Christchurch visiting Avonside Girls' High (Bern was a former pupil, I believe) and Heaton Intermediate was very worthwhile.

Thank you to my hosts Jan and Lynne - greatly appreciated!

A ferry to Balmain to see another baby chum!

A lovely photo Aunty Di - You make a wonderful grannie :)

We enjoyed our visit to see baby Vincent and Little Zita - Hard to believe that it wasn't that long ago Lucy was holding baby Emily and dancing around Di's lounge in our Christmas Pantomime "Cinderella and the Ugly Sisters".

The Rainbow Tour of Sydney

I spent a lovely Queens Birthday weekend in Sydney with Julia - The musical Wicked was fantastic as were the glow-in-the dark cocktails. Luckily I only had two blocks to walk home!

Stages of how to make pyjamas or boxers

Stage one - identify the back crotch which has a deeper curve than the front crotch

Posted by PicasaUsing the program Picasa is a step up from the Paint program. This free set-up is easy to operate and stores pictures into folders, it directly links pictures to your blog, you can make slides and create collages such as my very basic attempt for time-out-from- teaching. I down-loaded the instructions for the blog heading from this hyperlink - and refer to the March 10 diary entitled Beautify Your Blog
